THE Philippine Dental Association - Davao Chapter (PDA-Davao) has warned the public sternly, urging them to be cautious of fake dentists, particularly those operating in the online realm.

Abraham Julian, the President of PDA-Davao, revealed that they have been receiving reports about the prevalence of counterfeit dentists, and they are fully prepared to take legal measures against these individuals.

“Online [fake dentists]. It’s very rampant now. Yung mga DIY [do-it-yourself] braces. Very dangerous ‘yan sila (Fake dentists are becoming increasingly common, especially online. These include individuals promoting DIY braces. Engaging with them can be extremely hazardous),” Julian said in a press conference on August 8.

Julian also said that among the approximately 300 members of PDA-Davao, only 150 are duly registered dentists.

This raises concerns that some dentists may possess expired licenses yet continue to practice dentistry, which could categorize them as inactive practitioners. (ICE)
