PUBLIC Safety & Security Command Center (PSSCC) urged the public to cooperate with the city’s policy on banning provincial buses from picking up passengers at bus stops, said Col. Angel Sumagaysay.

“Dapat mga tao mag-participate kung ano tong mga security initiatives ng city, kay kung dili mo palapdon ang imong understanding, unya imuha ang masunod, ilabi na kung mao na ang sitwasyon, unsay mahitabo karun (The people must participate with the security initiatives of the city. You have to understand why we are doing these. What do you think will happen if you continue to do what you do during times like this?)” Sumagaysay said in an interview with Davao City Disaster Radio.

Following the blast incidents in Koronadal City, South Cotabato and Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat, the city issued an order banning the picking up of provincial bus passengers at bus stops.

Sumagaysay said terrorists know no boundary.

“Kabalo na ka nga terorista knows no boundary, biskan naa pa siguro na iyahang igsoon sa sulod sa truck kung naplano na nya nga mao ng target niyan, so madamay na, that’s why we need the understanding of the community, na mintras naa ng mga ana nga aktibidadis sa ubang region, nga dili pud na maiwasan nga pwede pud mahitabo na diri kung magiging complacent ta (A terrorist knows no boundary.Eeven if their brother is in the truck, if they planned to attack it, surely, the brother will also be affected. That is why we ask the community to understand that though it happened in another region, it could happen to us too if we are complacent),” Sumagaysay said.

Sumagaysay said they understand the negative feedback from some commuters, especially those who need to travel twice to get to the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal in Ecoland.

“Kinabuhi naman gud ang ginahisgutan diha, may mga gamay nga discomfort sa side sa commuters, pero kung imong tan-awon ang kinatibuk-an, pila kabook ang tao nga naa diha sa sulod sa bus, just imagine the impact ng explosion? (We are talking about lives here. We understand the discomfort of some commuters but if you look at the bigger picture, think about how many people are inside the bus? Imagine the impact of the explosion),” Sumagaysay said.

Sumagaysay requests residents and travelers to understand and be patient with the current policy.

“So unta masabtan nga gamay na pagsabot sa atoang mga kaigsoonan sa Davao City... Dili man pud ni siya magdugay siguro, kami naman sigeg monitor sa gawas (We are asking for a bit of an understanding from Dabawenyos. Hopefully, this will not last long. We will continue to monitor areas outside the city),” Sumagaysay said. KSD
