DAVAO City Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) said there are no direct threats from local terrorist and communist groups to the city as it celebrates Pasko Fiesta.

PSSCC Head PCol. Angel Sumagaysay said in an interview on the Davao City Disaster Radio on December 6, 2022, that Dabawenyos should take advantage of the peace and order situation in the city.

“We are free, pag-enjoy mo, pero sama sa akong giingon ayaw ninyo biyai ang balay ninyo (enjoy the celebration of Pasko Fiesta but just make sure that your house is secured when you go out),” Sumagaysay said.

He assured that Dabweyons are safe during the celebration as the 911 and the security forces in the city are all ready to respond in case of emergencies.

“Pag naka-abot na sa atoang call center dire sa opisina, sigurado na ma-relay na didto sa ground kung ano ba kailangan ninyo, basta ang importante magsalita mo (If our call center will receive calls or reports they will relay these concerns to the concerned offices),” he added.

Sumagaysay said 911 will even accommodate concerns related to fire incidents.

“Kung tan-aw ninyo naay mga nagsiga-siga diha, naay mga cables diha nga alanganin, please call 911 kay bahala na sila motawag sa Bureau of Fire (BFP), sa Davao Light kung kinahanglan na siya hatagan og atensyon (If you have noticed that there could be a fire or cables that could endanger others, please call 911. They will be the ones who will reach out to BFP and Davao Light for it to be resolved),” he said.

He added to ensure that peace is sustained in the city, the public is encouraged to support the security cluster’s initiatives.

“Kinahanglan gyud mi og suporta, that’s why ginapakusgan nato ning culture of security, kung may nakita magsalita, so be it, biskan unsa nga alanganin mo (We need your support, and that’s why we strengthened our campaign of the culture of security. If you saw something odd, please report it),” he said. KSD
