DAVAO DE ORO -- The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO)-Pantukan assured that it will do its best to retrieve the other two individuals believed to be buried in a landslide in Sitio Diat Palo, Barangay Napnapan in Pantukan in the afternoon of March 9, 2022.

This was according to responder Jason Valdez of MDRRMO-Pantukan during an interview with Superbalita Davao Thursday, March 10.

It was learned that the rescue operation was temporarily suspended around 8 p.m. of March 9 and continued early morning on March 10.

It was first reported on social media that there were four miners buried during the landslide incident on the upper portion of the tunnel owned by a certain Pepe Miranda from Tagum City.

Valdez admitted that his team was having a problem searching for the victims since rains and the sliding of the soil were continuous, aside from the geographical location of the incident around 10 p.m. of March 9.

It was learned that the first of the four bodies was discovered around 5 p.m. of March 9, and after several minutes, the second body was found.

The retrieved victims were identified as Crisanto Canuquing, 36, and Gilbert Ayop, 46, both from Mati City, Davao Oriental.

The other two individuals remained to be buried. They have not yet been identified, while retrieval operation is ongoing.

MDRRMO-Patukan hopes to find the two victims the soonest possible time.
