DAVAO City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio and former Vice Mayor Paolo "Pulong" Duterte extended birthday wishes to their father, President Rodrigo Duterte, who celebrated his 73rd birthday Wednesday, March 28.
Duterte-Carpio, in her Instagram post, wished for good health for her father.
"Happy Birthday Digong, good health paaarrteeey!" she posted along with the picture of the President beside Stonefish, her youngest son.
Pulong, for his part, posted a long and emotional message for his father on his social media account.
"Pa sa tanan kalagot ug kalipay sa atong duha, ako magpabiling anak nimo. Sa tanan yawyaw nimo nako, Pa, naminaw ko, gidawat nako ug nakasabot ko. Dili dali mahimong amahan sa pinakabut-an nimong anak! Pasaylua ko sa mga panahon na nadungagan nako imong UBAN (white hair). Unta maabot pa ang panahon na ikapanghambog ko nimo. I know that I would never attain what you have achieved in your lifetime, but I can assure you that I will do my best to make you proud. Maningkamot ko ug akong mga igsuon nga di ka mapahiya sa amua,” he stated.
(Pa, with all the hate and happiness between us, I will remain your son. Pa, I have listened, accepted and understood all the sermons you gave. Being a father to a "very good" son is not easy. I am sorry for all the times I added stress to you. I hope time will come that you will be proud of me. I know that I would never attain what you have achieved in your lifetime, but I can assure you that I will do my best to make you proud. I and my siblings will strive to make sure that we will not cause you shame.)
Pulong also thanked his father for his support to his family.
"Thank you for the longer patience, Happy Birthday Pa, I love you!" the President's eldest wrote.
Sun.Star asked readers via social media on what their wish for the President was.
"Because there is nothing more than him being the best president ever so far. Tatay Digs, happy happy birthday po and may you continue your good deeds to the best interest of the Filipino people. Long live Tatay Digong, our mayor, our president," said Rick Kier King.
"I wish I could give my extra years of life to him to serve this country ..." said Dennis Dynaque.
Richard Ines Concepcion also wished for long life for the President and the expansion of martial law in the entire country.
