A 72-YEAR-OLD man was tragically found dead, allegedly strangled by his 39-year-old grandson until he passed away, in Purok 1, Barangay Poblacion, Relocation, Sulop, Davao del Sur.
The incident came to light on July 29, 2023, at 6:53 p.m., when a concerned citizen called the Sulop Municipal Police Station office to report the discovery of a deceased senior citizen in Purok 1, Barangay Poblacion.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police spoke to Kathy, the daughter of the suspect's 39-year-old niece, who witnessed the suspect strangling her grandmother, resulting in her untimely death.
However, the police have not disclosed the motive behind this unfortunate crime.
The victim was identified as Dulcisima Elardes Malinao.
Following the crime, the suspect managed to escape initially, but thanks to a launched hot pursuit operation, he was eventually apprehended.
The Sulop Municipal Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, and the suspect has been charged with parricide for his alleged actions.
