SK Davao eyes youth hub

THE Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation in Davao City plans to create a youth hub in the city to provide space for the youth to gather and be provided with needed services.

SK Federation Davao relations officer Paolo Dominic Rodriguez said the youth hub will be a place for all youth groups to hold trainings and workshops, meetings on various activities, and services.

"We will have a monitoring program. Though gasgas na jud kaayo (It may seem overused) ang `Yes to Sports, No to Drugs' program is the only program that the youth find interesting," Rodriguez said.

He said they have encouraged all SK officers in 182 barangays to monitor the youth in their respective areas and list those who are not cooperating.

"Tagaan nato attention ning mga not interest to join the SK activities. Ato silang awhagon na mag participate sa lihok sa kabataan-onan ug mutabang alang sa kaayo-han sa atong siyudad (We will give attention to those who are not attending SK activities. We will urge them to participate)," he said.

Rodriguez also said that for the past five years without an SK, the federation assured Dabawenyo youth that the SK is functional and all their officers and members are responsible. (ICT)
