TO STRENGTHEN the health measure against Covid-19, an aggressive community testing implemented by the Tagum City Covid-19 Task Force headed by Mayor Allan L. Rellon and the Department of Health (DOH) took place from December 2 to 4 in Tagum, ensuring the people’s safety especially as the holiday gets nearer.
Some 1,500 individuals underwent the mandatory community testing conducted by the local government unit under the direction of the DOH. These people were identified as possible “close contacts” of already identified coronavirus-positive patients in the city via the sampling method, based on the data gathered from the QR code scanning system of the province of Davao del Norte.
Those contacted by the contact tracers will submit themselves to the testing; otherwise, they will receive certain sanctions under Section 9 of the Republic Act 11332 or the “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act” and their QR registration will be blocked from the system as well.
The said testing is administered for free and Tagumenyos will then wait two to seven days to get their result. They are also required to self-quarantine until the release of the result to avoid further spread of the virus in the event that some Tagumenyos would test positive.
Through these efforts, the LGU is hoping that the increase in cases in the city will be prevented and to achieve that, cooperation from the people is much needed. (PR)
