Top gov’t workers nominations on

NOMINATIONS are now open for the Search for Outstanding Government Workers, a Civil Service Commission (CSC) memorandum stated.

In CSC Memorandum Circular 01, s. 2019 it stated that CSC is administering the annual Search for Outstanding Government Workers to bolster the merit and reward system of the commission.

“Ang CSC naa mi flagship program, gitawag nga HAP or Honor Awards Program nga kini nagapangita og mga empleyado sa gobyerno nga i-recognize og reward base sa ilahang exemplary or extraordinary performance sa ilahang trabaho (The CSC has this flagship program called HAP or Honor Awards Program, in which we recognize or reward a government employee for his/her exemplary or extraordinary performance),” CSC Chief Human Resource Specialist Edna Plata said during the Kapihan sa Philippine Information Agency forum yesterday, March 1, 2019.

Plata said that the nominees can be permanent, co-terminus, contractual, and casual employees of any government agency. Elective officials, barangay officials, and appointed barangay officials can be nominated as well.

She, however, said that employees under job order and contract of service are excluded in this nomination.

The Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award is conferred to an individual or group of individuals for exceptional contributions that had nationwide impact on public interest, security and patrimony.

While the CSC Pagasa Award is granted to an individual or group for their contributions that directly benefit the government.

The Dangal ng Bayan (DnB), however, is an award for adherence to the highest standard of exemplary conduct and ethical behavior given to an individual who displays extraordinary act of public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of his/her observance of the eight norms of behavior in accordance to the Republic Act 6713.

In 2015, Cecilia B. Vidoy, a special education teacher from Mati, Davao Oriental, was a recipient of the Dangal ng Bayan Award for her humane public service. The following year, Aida L. Maniego and The Verdant Movers of Davao del Sur received Presidential Lingkod Bayan Awards.

Meanwhile, in 2018, Bhen Zar M. Sam of the Municipal Government of Maco, Compostela Valley was awarded the CSC Pag-asa Award.

This year, the CSC wants to give Davao City a shot.

The nominees are required to submit a 10-page requirement consisting their nomination page and executive summary where their accomplishments and the impact of their services are stated.

CSC is encouraging Dabawenyos to submit their nominations for the Outstanding Government Workers Awards on or before March 31. (JCR, April Grace Asgapo - UM intern)
