RESIDENTS across the Davao Region are advised to prepare for possible localized thunderstorms and rain showers as easterlies continue to affect the area, according to the latest weather forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
The 24-hour localized weather forecast valid until Thursday, April 17, indicates that the region will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies throughout the day, with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms expected due to the prevailing easterlies — warm, moist winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.
While the rainfall is generally expected to be moderate, the weather bureau warned of the potential for flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas, especially during severe thunderstorms.
Winds across the region will be light to moderate, blowing from the east to northeast, making for relatively calm but occasionally moderate coastal waters with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters.
Residents are urged to stay updated through official weather bulletins and take necessary precautions, especially those living in flood- or landslide-prone areas.
Alongside the expected rain showers and thunderstorms from the easterlies, the state weather bureau is also urging residents of the region to take precautions against extreme heat.
Pagasa warned that the heat index in the region is forecast to range between 38°C to 42°C in the coming days, levels that fall under the “danger” category.
These temperatures significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and in more severe cases, heat stroke.
Pagasa also strongly advises the public to limit outdoor activities, especially during peak heat hours between 11 a.m and 3 p.m. Individuals are encouraged to stay indoors as much as possible, stay hydrated, and wear light and breathable clothing. DEF
