THE Land Transportation Office-Davao Region (LTO-Davao) has issued a show-cause order to the driver who intentionally bumped a traffic enforcer.
“On our part, we already issued a show-cause order so that ma explain niya ang kanyang side (so that he can explain his side of the story),” LLTO-Davao Regional Director, Atty. Ernesto Raphael Robillo, said during the Davao Peace and Security Press Briefing on January 22, 2025, at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.
The show-cause order, issued on January 21, prompted the driver to visit the LTO-Davao office accompanied by his lawyer. According to Robillo, the driver cited health reasons for his actions, claiming he urgently needed to reach the nearest hospital.
The driver also submitted an affidavit explaining that he did not see the traffic enforcer on the motorcycle while being pursued near J.P. Laurel Avenue.
The incident, captured on video and widely shared online, occurred on Saturday, January 11, 2025, near Gaisano Mall J.P. Laurel Avenue. Footage showed the driver recklessly bumping into the traffic enforcer.
The driver appeared before the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) on January 14 to present his account of the incident and later surrendered to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) on the same day.
Davao City Police Office spokesperson PCapt. Hazel Tuazon confirmed on January 15 that the driver faces multiple criminal charges, including reckless driving, reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury, and disobedience to a person in authority. RGP
