THE people of Maguindanao del Sur have once again affirmed their trust and support for Governor Bai Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu, following her strong lead in the latest Bangsamoro Citizens Poll released on April 1, 2025.
Gov. Bai Mariam garnered a remarkable 78% of the votes — far ahead of her closest rival, Datu Ali Midtimbang, who received only 22% — a significant gap that reflects her widespread backing across the province.
According to political analysts, the results are a “clear indication of the public’s confidence in her steadfast and compassionate leadership. From promoting peace and security to aggressively pushing for economic growth and infrastructure development, the people feel the genuine service of their governor.”
The smear campaigns and black propaganda thrown against Bai Mariam seem to have only boosted her standing in the surveys. Despite the spread of fake news intended to mislead voters, the lady governor remained focused on delivering public service across Maguindanao del Sur.
Limited funding did not hinder her administration either. Allegedly, only members of the UBJP benefited from the controversial Barmm 2024 Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), which is currently under Congress' investigation.
As a known peace advocate, Bai Mariam continues to lead dialogues with various sectors to strengthen unity in the region. She is one of the main convenors of the Barmm Grand Coalition (also known as the Barmm Family Alliance).
Under her leadership, healthcare services have improved significantly — with the modernization of health facilities, distribution of free medicine, and the implementation of various health programs targeting the most vulnerable sectors.
Maguindanao del Sur is also making strides in infrastructure development, with new roads, bridges, and public facilities enhancing connectivity and economic activity in communities.
In the economic sphere, Bai Mariam is focused on boosting agriculture, supporting MSMEs, and attracting investors to create more jobs.
Because of these efforts, she was named “Top-Performing Governor in Barmm” by Boses ng Bayan in 2024, and was also recognized as Asia’s Reputable Public Servant at the Asia’s Golden Icon Awards held at Okada Manila. PR
