Mall guard returns P150-K in lost bag

A SECURITY guard at a major mall in Lanang, Davao City, returned a large sum of money after finding a forgotten sling bag on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

According to the mall’s report to SunStar SuperBalita Davao, the black sling bag contained ₱150,000 in cash, along with various identification cards (IDs).

Security guard Jonathan Lope, assigned to SM Lanang, found the bag in the bowling area. It belonged to a 47-year-old man who had accidentally left it behind.

Mall personnel promptly contacted the owner, and the bag was officially returned at 11:33 a.m. on April 2, 2025. The owner expressed his sincere gratitude to Lope for his honesty.

This isn't the first instance of honesty at the mall. On July 25, 2023, another security guard at the same location returned a lost bag containing ₱48,200 in cash. JPC
