Maricar Zamora-Mabanglo takes oath as DavOro rep
FIRST District Congresswoman-elect Maria Carmen “Maricar” S. Zamora-Mabanglo officially took her oath of office on June 29, 2025, in a solemn inauguration ceremony held at the Capitol Grounds in Cabidianan, Nabunturan.
RTC judge Carmel Gil Grado administered the oath.
In her message, Zamora-Mabanglo reflected on her long journey in public service, admitting with humor that the experience has made her feel “old”—not by age, but by the years of learning and leadership she has gained.
She expressed deep gratitude to Team Lambo for trusting her to lead—a role she described as unexpected and unplanned, but one she embraced fully. She sees her greatest challenge now as shaping the next generation of leaders in Davao de Oro.
"They say a good leader is measured by the kind of leaders they produce," Zamora-Mabanglo stated.
She that instead of calling for unity, she calls for collaboration, believing that no matter the political color or affiliation, working together leads to better service for the people of Davao de Oro.
In a lighter moment, she joked about her new role as the wife of the incoming provincial governor, Engr. Raul G. Mabanglo. She shared that she’s a bit nervous, teasing that she might no longer be able to say no to requests from the governor. Still, she affirmed her commitment to stay focused on her legislative role and not overstep into the governor's responsibilities.
She also expressed enthusiasm about being part of the provincial council of women, noting that while being the governor’s spouse brings some limits, it also allows her to focus on national issues while leaving provincial matters to the governor.
She concluded her message with the statement, "It is not only Congresswoman Maricar who will create progress, nor Congressman Jhong Ceniza, nor Governor Mabanglo. The one who will create real progress is you, the people. That is why we should all collaborate for the progress of Davao de Oro." Iresh Jane, Davao del Sur State College Intern
