SEVERAL groups from Mindanao are set to hold discussions with some of their leaders in their respective regions to address matters concerning Vice President Sara Duterte’s security.

Mindanao leaders, led by Barangay 23-C Administrator Alimoden “Kap Wating” Usman of Davao City, announced on December 18, 2024, that they will convene a meeting whose date has not yet been finalized.

Usman, who previously led the Duterte for President 2016 Movement and the Run Sara Run campaign, is spearheading the newly formed "Mindanaons Not For Sale" group, which emerged following the People's Initiative (PI) issue.

In a prior interview with SuperBalita Davao, Usman said that this initiative is one of their ways of demonstrating strong and sincere support for the vice president.

This comes amid the filing of impeachment complaints against Duterte due to issues discussed during the QuadComm hearing. Despite this, Duterte continues to enjoy a high trust rating among Filipinos.

According to a post on the Office of the Vice President’s Facebook page, Duterte maintains the “highest approval” and “trust rating.” The post cited the latest 2024 "Pahayag End of the Year" survey by Publicus Asia Inc., where the vice president garnered a 37% approval rating and a 31% trust rating. The survey was conducted from November 29 to December 3, 2024.

The OVP reiterated its commitment to serving the Filipino people in a fast, reliable, and honest manner.

“Patuloy na magiging inspirasyon ng Office of the Vice President ang sambayanang Pilipino para sa mas mabilis, epektibo at tapat na serbisyo saanmang sulok ng bansa. Ang lahat para sa Diyos, Bayan, at bawat Pamilyang Pilipino,” read the caption on the OVP Facebook post.

However, a retired university professor expressed skepticism about the survey results. According to him, Duterte still needs to prove her genuine and clean governance to her critics.

“Limpyo ug tinuod man gyud ang panerbisyo ni VP Sara, nga kini maoy usa sa iyang angay nga pamatud-an sa iyang mga kalaban sa politika. Kinahanglan dili kampante si VP Sara kay kuyaw sab og power ang kaatbang, mahimo nila ang ilang gustong himuon (Vice President Duterte’s service is clean and honest and this what she must prove to her opponents in politics. She must not be complacent because her rival is powerful, they can do whatever they want),” said Crisanto Suarez, a 63-year-old retired university professor from Davao City. JPC
