THE Davao City Economic Enterprise (CEE) has proposed an additional section at the Agdao Public Market to accommodate vacant stalls.
Leandrie Rose Presoris, market supervisor of the Agdao Farmers Market, stated that there are still available stalls in the variety section on the second floor and that they are proposing these be reclassified as a miscellaneous section to include a spa, barbershop, ticketing office, and other services.
“We already proposed for the resectioning para mapagamit, mapa-rent nato sa mga interesado pud to [generate additional revenues],” she said during a radio interview on Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on July 30, 2025.
She noted that since the market began operations in its new facility, it has already reached its annual income target.
Presoris said that Phase 3 of the market’s construction is still ongoing, which includes the top floor and some areas on the ground floor. They do not yet have a target completion date, as they are still waiting for additional funding to proceed.
She added that, due to ongoing construction, the eatery section continues to operate in the old market building. Once completed, it will be relocated to the second floor of the new facility. She also revealed that the market’s walkalator, which was previously functional, is currently under maintenance.
Presoris clarified that stall rental rates at the new Agdao Public Market remain the same. The increase in cost is because the newly rented stalls are larger compared to those in the old facility.
She added that several Local Government Units (LGUs) have conducted benchmarking visits at Agdao Public Market, recognizing it as a model market for other areas.
Agdao Public Market began operating in its new facility on November 15, 2023. RGP
