THE City Government of Davao is set to strengthen its security measures this 2025 by installing additional closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in key public areas, according to the Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO).

PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay, in an interview with the city-owned radio station, revealed that fiber optic cables are being installed to support the expansion of the city’s CCTV network. With approval from the Davao City Mayor’s Office, priority areas have been identified for the new installations.

"Davao City is growing, henceforth, we must use it as a tool to improve its security and ensure our safety, such as in the event of flooding or traffic, " he said.

Currently, approximately 200 CCTV cameras are already operational across the city. This expansion is also part of Davao City’s vision to become a “smart city,” where advanced technologies, including CCTV systems, are integrated into local governance to enhance productivity, safety, and overall quality of life.
