THE United Moro and Indigenous People Movement (UMIPM) has expressed deep concern over the recent discovery of election paraphernalia, calling it a serious threat to the integrity of the democratic process.

In a statement released Sunday, April 6, 2025, UMIPM said the presence of election-related equipment in an unsecured location raises serious concerns about potential manipulation or electoral fraud. The group stressed that the Moro and Indigenous Peoples have long fought for equal representation and respect in the political system.

“The sanctity of our votes must never be compromised. Any indication of irregularities– especially involving technology that may be used in election transmission– must be met with swift, thorough, and impartial investigation,” UMIPM said.

The group urged the Commission on Elections (Comelec), law enforcement agencies, and independent watchdogs to investigate the origin, purpose, and legality of the equipment found. They also called for accountability from those responsible for breaching election protocols and asked for transparency and safeguards to ensure public trust in the upcoming elections.

UMIPM reaffirmed its commitment to remain engaged in protecting the democratic rights of Filipinos, especially marginalized sectors.

"The power of the ballot is sacred," the group said, adding that every Filipino's voice must be heard and respected without interference, deception, or manipulation.

According to a report, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) discovered solar panels and Wi-Fi transmission equipment during an inspection in Purok Santo Niño, Dumanlas, Buhangin. The homeowner claimed a relative involved in a project had asked to temporarily store the items at the residence.

Comelec, in a statement, said it found no irregularities with the presence of the materials.

However, Comelec-Davao Region clarified that iOne Resources, a provider of Starlink satellite kits and solar panels, had not coordinated with their office regarding the storage. While confirming the legitimacy of iOne JV, the agency noted that the use of an unapproved storage site was a misstep. RGP
