AGENTS from the National Bureau of Investigation – Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-Semro) arrested a man wanted for raping his three young nephews during an entrapment operation on Tuesday morning, July 2, 2025, in Ecoland, Davao City.
The 30-year-old suspect, identified by the alias "Renren," had been in hiding for several years after allegedly abusing his nephews—then aged 13, 11, and 9—in Maragusan, Davao de Oro in 2018. A court issued his arrest warrant in 2022.
NBI agent Vicente Minguez confirmed to local media on July 3 that the team arrested the suspect at around 11:56 a.m. He added that during the initial investigation, the suspect admitted to using marijuana at the time of the offense, claiming it influenced his actions.
Despite the suspect expressing remorse, one of the victims—referred to as "Jell,"—continues to struggle with the trauma and has not found closure or forgiveness.
“Renren” is now under investigation and faces four counts of rape and statutory rape. He will also undergo mandatory drug testing as part of the legal process.
Under Philippine law, statutory rape refers to sexual acts involving individuals under 12 years old, regardless of consent, and carries penalties of life imprisonment. The suspect’s alleged drug use could further aggravate the charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. DEF
