TO ENHANCE traveler safety and security, the Davao City Government has provided the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (Dcott) with a new baggage x-ray machine capable of scanning up to 150 to 200 kilograms.
The scanner, installed at the passenger entrance, can detect both organic and inorganic materials, including prohibited items such as sharp objects, firearms, ammunition, and other illegal goods.
DCOTT Manager Aisa Usop highlighted that the new scanner is faster and more sensitive than the outdated machine previously used. She noted that the advanced technology will make baggage inspections more efficient and thorough.
“First is mapaspas ang pagsulod sa atoang mga pasahero. Second, ang kaning baggage scanner man gud lahi ra gyud (kaysa) kung manual kay very sensitive so makit-an gyud kung unsa ang naa sa sulod sa mga bagahe nga ginasulod sa atoang mga pasahero (With the new machine, passenger entry will be smoother. It’s far more sensitive and efficient than manual inspections, as it can easily detect the contents of passengers’ baggage),” she said.
Usop added that the new scanner greatly supports the efforts of Task Force Davao, the City Security Unit (CSU), and police officers stationed at the terminal. She also expressed gratitude to the City Mayor Sebastian Duterte for providing the upgraded equipment.
Despite the temporary downtime of the old baggage scanner, Usop reassured the public that stringent security measures remain in place.
“We are very particular when it comes to the security measures, security implementation, that is why we have the men in uniform including the Task Force Davao, atoang kapulisan, atoang CSU. Naa pud ta’y K-9 (We prioritize security implementation. That’s why we have men in uniform, including Task Force Davao, the police, and the CSU. We also have a K-9 unit stationed at the terminal),” Usop added. DEF
