
SECURITY forces captured a top official of the New People’s Army (NPA) and seven other members during a coordinated military and police operation that dismantled the last remaining elements of the Jaguar Platoon in Southern Mindanao.
The operation was carried out on June 13, 2025, in two sites: Barangay Bunawan Brooke and Purok 2, Barangay San Teodoro in Bunawan, which resulted in the arrest of key figures of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC), a major unit of the NPA in the region.
Based on a report from the Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division (10ID), Charisse Bernadine Bañez, also known as Nikki or Nikol, platoon secretary; Louvaine Erika Espina, alias Pam or Tugas, the unit's medical officer; and Ronnie Igloria, alias Gideon, Rey, or Papang, who served as the vice commander, were captured.
Also apprehended were Arjie Guino Dadizon, alias Ronron, identified as a squad leader; Sinag Lugsi, alias Jomilyn; Grace Niknik T. Man-Aning, alias Jelyn; Larry Montero, alias Laloy; and Daryl Man-Inday, alias Tonton.
The successful raid was the result of joint intelligence and combat operations involving the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP), 10th Infantry Division, 60th Infantry Battalion under the 1001st Infantry Brigade, and the 67th Infantry Battalion under the 701st Infantry Brigade. Additional support came from the Regional Intelligence Division of Police Regional Office 13 and the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company.
Authorities also seized several firearms and improvised explosive devices, believed to have been stockpiled for planned armed attacks.
Major General Allan Hambala, commander of the 10th Infantry Division, praised the troops and their partner units for their professionalism and effective coordination. He also noted that the operation was executed without casualties, underscoring its success in weakening insurgent influence in the area and contributing to regional peace and security.
