KIDAPAWAN CITY – Authorities have identified the suspect behind the grenade-throwing incident at a carnival at 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, in Matalam, Cotabato Province.
In the incident, one person was killed, identified as Romel Presto Cabiso, while five others, residents of Matalam, Cotabato Province, were injured.
According to Matalam Vice Mayor Ralph Ryan Rafael, a grenade was thrown at the carnival located in Sitio Condring, Barangay Marbel, Matalam.
Cabiso was instantly killed as he was directly hit during the explosion, while the five injured were rushed to the hospital.
The vice mayor quickly extended assistance to the families of the deceased and the injured.
Meanwhile, the Matalam Municipal Police Station continues to thoroughly investigate the suspects to ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law. EEF
