Abrigo: The beatitudes of 2019

Abrigo: The beatitudes of 2019

AFTER college, I was employed in one of the most esteemed commercial banks as a Loans Credit and Sundries clerk.

There was no infraction of company policy, nonetheless swept by the wand to the losing side of politics, that I felt I was not in good hands. So my engagement was just a short while. But my short stay bequeathed me a lifetime moral, shared by a client-borrower on why he succeeded in business.

There are “3Ps” that serve as guiding post in his way of life and day to day existence. The 3Ps represent Pagkugi, Pagdaginot and Pag-ampo. He was very industrious and very frugal with his earnings that put him in the array of millionaires in the city. And so, without much rigor, I set the most vendible recommendation I ever had to my bosses for a haste approval of his secured loan at that time.

The third “P” for prayer, left a permanent mark in the apical space of my very limited memory. Prayer here does not only mean to ask for everything you want to enjoy life. But this mainly intends to acknowledge everything you received including life, to enjoy everything.

Here are the beatitudes to reflect and pray (thank for) for the year 2019 which I borrowed and rephrased from an unknown author flooding in the social media:

Blessed are you than the 75 percent in the world who do not have food in their fridge, clothes on their body, roof over their head, and a place to sleep.

Blessed are you as among the 18 percent wealthiest people in the world if you have money in your wallet and can go anywhere you want.

Blessed are you than the million people who will not survive this week and die, because you are alive today and healthy.

Blessed are you and more fortunate than the three billion people in the world who are blind, deaf or illiterate, because you can actually read and understand this

message.

May we enjoy life and acknowledge more beatitudes in 2020. Happy New Year!
