Custodio: Indisposed

EVER have of those days when you feel your schedule is so stuffed you hardly have time to breathe but in reality, when you look around, you’re not really doing anything substantial? Well, right now, I am exactly in that situation. It feels like I have so much on my hands that I don’t really know where to start and what to do first!

Times like this, it helps to be proficient in time management, which I am not. I am always doing things at the last minute, which works for me but even so, it can be stressful. I am sure you know how it feels.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (again), I just want reiterate the importance of knowing when to step back from one’s busy daily grind and just putting your feet up to relax. It has saved many a man from going berserk over the demands of life. It may seem like such an insignificant task, but it is not. It is a biggie disguised as a negligible thing, you would not want to have it blowing up in your face.

But this is not about that. There really are times when we become indisposed. With a million things to do and just you, being overwhelmed is expected. To find yourself to be in such a fix can be a bummer and so it is important to remain calm and objective.

Prioritize. So, which goes first, the important tasks that require your utmost attention that probably require more time to do or the no-brainer ones that can be done in a heartbeat? Sometimes, we need to choose wisely so we can use our time effectively. In this age of multitasking, time is precious like gold.

Commit to finish what you started. When you have chosen the tasks you want, make sure you follow through and get it done. Focus. Do not get intimidated by your seemingly endless to-do list because when you do things according to planned, you will complete it! Just remember the tasks at hand and you will be fine. I admit it can be difficult at times when you need to juggle many roles but if we are mindful, it can be done! We just have to commit to doing things this way so that it becomes easier each time. After all, practice makes perfect.

Commend yourself for a job well done. Of course, all of us deserve a pat on the back even if we have to do it for ourselves. After all, we should be competing with ourselves rather than with other people. That way, we make sure that we do all we can to better ourselves. After a challenging day, we should have time to unwind so that we can recharge and get ready for the next onslaught of busy days. We should never forget “me” time. That way, we prevent burnout from “indisposed” days in the future.

Happy Sunday everyone!
