Custodio: Try things differently

Published on:

I ALWAYS write my articles on the last day, at the last minute (beyond it even). It has always been my thing, beating the deadline with only seconds to spare, because that's how I write best--when I am pressed for time!

It has always worked for me and still does. So I figured I would change things a bit and actually submit ahead of time. Good idea, right? I thought so too, and it would be a good welcome gift for my new editor-in-chief!

Apparently, things are harder to change than one thinks! This article was supposed to run last Sunday and guess what? I forgot to submit it! So here it is now, one week late!

Regardless of my faux pas, I still believe in trying things differently. It really doesn't hurt to change things up a bit. You just need to be brave about it and muster enough courage to just go ahead and challenge yourself! Try at least once and see what happens!

First of all, it will give you variety. Especially when you're stuck with routinary activities, it would help to see them in a different light so we don't get bored. Personally, mundane activities sap the life out of me. I crave the unique way of doing everyday things! Really, we don't need to feel stuck doing these things!

Trying to do things differently can also be entertaining. Remember the traffic enforcers who used to dance while directing traffic? I thought that was a good idea. It provided a little relief from the stresses of being stuck in traffic which under normal circumstances would have driven me to madness! It was always a treat to watch, especially when the enforcer happens to be a good dancer too. I just thought that it sent such good vibes!

You never know what lessons you might learn when you deviate from your usual ways. I often think of it as an adventure. I have learned a lot of things about myself that I didn't realize before. Sometimes I am surprised about the realizations that come during times like these.

Suffice to say, it has allowed me to see and decide what will be better for me. As for those I discovered are my real truths, I am glad to have proven that I was right to stay true to them.

Stepping out of your box and diving head first (or feet, depending on your bravery) into the "unknown" may be a bit way out of your comfort zone but it will be worth.

It not only allows you to enjoy life more but also serve as an opportunity for you to you experience things from a different perspective.

One thing's for sure, it will allow you better insight into yourself, your life issues and the challenges that may come your way.

Just do it, okay? It won't hurt to try even just once. Who knows you just might like it?!

Happy Sunday everyone! :)
