Lidasan: The Resurrected Legion

Lidasan: The Resurrected Legion

“ONCE upon a time, in the ancient city of Xi'an, there existed a group of warriors known as the Resurrected Legion,” this was the introduction narrated to us by our tour guide when I visited the Museum of Terracotta Warriors and Horses.

The Resurrected Legion is a theatre play that is based on the historical research of Qin Shi Huang's Terra-cotta warriors and horses. The story revolves around two siblings from a poor family who joined Emperor Qin's army to protect their nation. The play brings the Terra-cotta warriors to life, showcasing their love for their family and nation.

I had the opportunity to watch the Resurrected Legion and was impressed by the discipline and commitment displayed by the actors. The martial arts skills demonstrated were impressive, with precise and graceful weapon wielding. The actors moved in perfect harmony, as if they were one cohesive unit.

The sense of honor and unity showcased by the Legion was captivating. While they were actors playing their roles, they displayed a deep respect for traditions and values. It was evident that they carried the weight of generations before them, preserving a legacy of honor and duty.

One of the Legion actors explained that being a part of the cast went beyond acting skills. It taught them discipline, respect, and the value of family. Being a part of the Resurrected Legion was not just a performance, but a way of life.

He shared with me the lessons that the Legions wanted to convey to the audiences. In the story he said, one of the main characters was injured during a battle, and unable to fight alongside his fellow Legionnaires. Instead of leaving him behind, they rallied together to ensure his safety and recovery. They showed him what true loyalty and brotherhood meant, proving that the bond of family extended far beyond bloodlines.

Inspired by his words, I began to reflect on the significance of honor and family values in my own life. I realized that sometimes we become so preoccupied with personal achievements and individualistic pursuits that we forget the importance of collective strength and support.

I was inspired to put emphasis on values like honor, loyalty, and family in my own life. I realized the importance of unity and how it can build strong foundations in building a nation. The Resurrected Legion taught me that true strength is not just about physical prowess, but also about the connections we develop with others. Even as Filipinos, we understand that honor and family values are not outdated, but rather essential principles that can shape the present and future.

As I left Xi'an that day, the image of the Resurrected Legion remained etched in my memory. Their unwavering dedication to honor and family values served as a reminder that when we embrace these principles, we become part of something greater than ourselves - a legacy that endures through generations, inspiring others to strive for greatness while staying true to their roots and identity.
