THE Police Regional Office-Davao Region (PRO-Davao) is mobilizing more than 12,000 personnel to ensure peace and order during the 2025 local and national midterm elections scheduled for May 12.

PRO-Davao Regional Director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete announced on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, that a total of 12,168 police officers will be deployed across the Davao Region as part of a broad security operation.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will also be reinforced by several national and regional agencies including the Special Action Force (SAF), Regional Highway Patrol Unit-Davao Region (RHPU-Davao), 1,557 troops from the 10th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, 184 personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and 195 members from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), who will also be mobilizing fire trucks for logistical support.

As preparations intensify nationwide for the upcoming elections, Rosete underscored the PNP’s role in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process, particularly through its participation in multi-agency security efforts and Special Electoral Boards (SEBs).

“The mission is clear: to ensure that every citizen can exercise their right to vote without fear or intimidation. The PNP personnel will meticulously secure polling places, control access, and prevent any unauthorized entry,” Rosete said during the send-off ceremony for election security personnel held at the PRO-Davao Parade Ground, Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido in Buhangin, Davao City.

Meanwhile, the SEBs deployed to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) will include 500 police officers from PRO-Davao and 41 from the Regional Maritime Unit.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) acting director Col. Hansel Marantan assured the public and the Dabawenyos that local law enforcement in the city will maintain political neutrality throughout the campaign and election period.

Marantan noted that the deployment of police officers to campaign events is being managed equitably, regardless of political affiliation, and emphasized the apolitical stance of the DCPO.

“We guarantee that no political favoritism influences the deployment of police officers,” he said.

The Comelec-Davao reported that Davao City leads the region with the most number of registered voters with 1,007,794, followed by Davao del Norte with 721,737, Davao de Oro with 551,671, Davao del Sur with 464,812, Davao Oriental with 435,188, and Davao Occidental with 205,737. DEF
