THE National Commission of Senior Citizens-Davao Region (NCSC-Davao) announced that a total of P16.1 million in cash gifts will be distributed to 1,511 senior citizens across the Davao Region in 2025.

This initiative is part of the implementation of RA 11982, the Act Granting Benefits to Filipino Octogenarians and Nonagenarians. The law provides milestone cash gifts to elderly Filipinos: P10,000 for those reaching the ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95, and P100,000 for those turning 100.

Out of the 3,545 potential awardees in the region, only 43 percent have applied so far. This has led NCSC-Davao to call for increased awareness and better documentation among eligible senior citizens.

Samantha Dizon underscored the importance of following the application process during the Kapehan sa Dabaw event on April 21, 2025, at SM City Davao.

“The Expanded Centenarian Act is application-based, so we first need to apply and submit the necessary documentary requirements," Dizon said.

She added that while the program aims to benefit thousands of senior citizens, it’s crucial to submit complete and accurate paperwork to avoid delays in the release of benefits.  Aliah Trica Marciano, HCDC Intern
