Bowling icon Rafael "Paeng" Nepomuceno brings star power to the 17th Datba Kadayawan Open, now with a record 140 bowlers from across the Philippines.
Nepomuceno, a Bowling World Hall of Famer, will grace the 17th Datba Kadayawan Open Championships this weekend at the SM Lanang bowling center.
Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) president Rameses Tancontian shared in a Messenger interview with SunStar Davao on Tuesday, August 5, that the IOC President’s Trophy recipient is expected to arrive in Davao on Friday and visit the venue on Saturday.
Tancontian said Nepomuceno’s presence, along with Philippine Bowling Federation (PBF) officials, gives this year’s tournament added prestige.
“This is our biggest turnout so far with 140 delegates from all over the Philippines,” he said.
The annual competition features four divisions—novice, seniors, mixed classified, and mixed masters—with hefty prizes at stake. The mixed masters champion will take home ₱60,000, while the winners of the other three divisions will each bag ₱50,000 and trophies. MLSA
