THE Office of the President has declared Friday, July 18, 2025, a special non-working holiday in Digos City, Davao del Sur, in celebration of the annual Padigosan Festival.

Issued through Proclamation No. 938, the declaration recognizes the city’s celebration marking the founding of the municipality, officially observed on July 19. However, since the date falls on a Saturday, the city government requested to move the holiday to the previous day to allow more residents to fully participate in the festivities.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Digos be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation read.

Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin signed the proclamation on July 17, 2025.

Running from July 15 to 19, the Padigosan Festival will feature a vibrant lineup of activities, including street dancing, cultural presentations, trade fairs, sports competitions, and the much-anticipated lechon (roast pig) parade. The festival showcases the city’s rich heritage, cultural diversity, and spirit of unity.

Held every second week of July, the Padigosan Festival commemorates the founding of Digos as a municipality. The festival’s name is derived from the word “digos,” meaning “to take a bath,” a nod to the city’s historical and cultural roots. RGP
