GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Authorities in Region 12 have intensified their crackdown on illegal drugs.

Benjamin Recites III, Regional Director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea-12), confirmed that they are collaborating closely with the police and other law enforcement units in their anti-drug efforts.

This comes after Pdea-12, in coordination with personnel from the General Santos City Police Office Station 2 and the Philippine Coast Guard Intelligence Group-Southern Mindanao, carried out an interdiction operation at a delivery hub in Barangay Apopong, General Santos City, at 7:40 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024.

During the operation, authorities seized seven kilograms of dried marijuana leaves worth ₱840,000, detected by Pdea-12's narcotics detection dogs.

Pdea-12 had earlier received intelligence about a parcel containing marijuana at a forwarding company’s storage facility in the city.

The marijuana, compressed and bundled, was being sent via a package courier.

Authorities have identified both the sender and recipient of the illegal drugs and continue to investigate. EEF
