THE New Bataan Municipal Police Office is investigating the death of 67-year-old Belgian national Marc Van-Cutsem, who was found lifeless in his rented apartment in Purok 3, Barangay Andap, New Bataan, Davao de Oro, on April 5, 2025.
Van-Cutsem, who was married to a local woman, had an unclear relationship with his wife over the years, according to authorities. Maximino Agacita, a resident, stated that the victim had no known enemies and was well-liked in the community.
Although police have not confirmed the motive, initial findings suggest no signs of forced entry at the residence. A pipe, possibly used as a weapon, was found near the victim, who had sustained a severe head injury. Authorities believe this injury could have led to his death.
The investigation is ongoing, with local authorities working to identify the perpetrator and determine the motive behind the murder. DEF
