THE Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office (DSPPO) is mourning the unexpected passing of Patrolwoman Kay Remando Dumasig, a 28-year-old personnel of the Matanao Municipal Police Station.
Dumasig was reported to have died due to an accidental firearm discharge that occurred at around 6:50 p.m. on July 11, 2025, inside the female quarter of Matanao MPS, located at Purok Tahimik, Brgy. Poblacion, Matanao, Davao del Sur.
According to the initial investigation, Dumasig was preparing her issued firearm — a 9mm Girsan pistol with Serial No. T6368-22CK03370 — for a planned buy-bust operation. However, while loading the weapon, it accidentally slipped from her hands.
