AS DAVAO City gears up for vibrant pre-Chinese New Year celebrations on January 28, 2025, the Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) has rolled out a comprehensive security plan.

PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay shared that over 200 personnel from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), along with more than 150 additional security staff, will be stationed across key locations, including Chinatown and Rizal Park, where the main festivities will take place.

The security team will include members from the Civil Security Unit (CSU), the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), and the City Disaster Risk and Management Office (CDRRMO).

Sumagaysay assured the public that security measures had been coordinated with the local Chinese community, who were briefed on the safety protocols.

He reminded Dabawenyos of the firecracker ban and outlined prohibited items such as backpacks, bladed weapons, pointed objects, and non-transparent water containers, which should not be brought into the celebration areas.

The main program, set from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rizal Park, expects over 200 attendees, marking one of the city's largest events of the year.

With these safety measures in place, the PSSO is committed to ensuring that the celebrations remain enjoyable and secure for all. DEF
