FOR years, entrepreneur Joy Averilla Salcedo searched for a place that truly felt like home. After moving from Antipolo, Rizal, to Davao City in 2016, she and her family hopped from one rental to another, never quite settling. They wanted more than just a roof over their heads—they wanted space for both their quiet routines and active lifestyle.

In 2021, they found Verdon Parc by DMCI Homes, a 2.97-hectare resort-inspired condo community in Ecoland, Davao City. Its location—near Ateneo de Davao University, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao, SM City Davao, and Matina Town Square—was ideal. But what won Joy over was its calm, well-kept environment and open spaces.

“I enjoy walking and jogging, so that was the first thing I looked for,” Joy shared. “I wanted to be somewhere that supported my daily habits.”

Verdon Parc’s pools, gym, weekend Zumba sessions, and wide outdoor spaces gave the Salcedos exactly that. The timing was perfect—her daughter was working from home and her son was studying nearby.

Through DMCI Homes’ HomeReady™ Rent-to-Own program, Joy’s family moved into a three-bedroom unit without a big upfront payment. Part of their rent went toward the down payment, letting them save while already enjoying their new home.

“Another good thing about rent-to-own is you get to try it first,” she said. “You see how it feels. You find out if condo living works for your family.”

HomeReady™ allows lessees to purchase their unit at the end of a two-year lease, with part of their rent credited toward the down payment. The balance can be paid through a bank loan or in-house financing—ideal, Joy says, for those testing the waters before making a big commitment.

“You can rent a unit for your children while they’re studying here. And if they finish school and you decide to buy it, it could become something you pass on or even turn into a small business,” she added.

Their good experience led to more. The Salcedos later secured a second unit—a two-bedroom condo with parking—again through rent-to-own, and eventually bought a third unit outright.

“What I love is how the amenities feel like an extension of my own living room,” Joy said with a laugh. She’s also joined a Bible study group that meets on Verdon Parc’s breezy roof deck, with sweeping views of the city, Mt. Apo, and Samal Island. “When I miss a session, my neighbors check in on me. That’s the kind of community we have here.”

It’s not just the neighbors—Joy recalls a late-night plumbing issue that staff fixed right away. “There’s always someone ready to help, even late at night. That kind of support gives you peace of mind,” she said.

With competitive pricing, a prime location, and a warm, reliable community, Verdon Parc became more than a home for Joy—it became the perfect place for her family to grow, thrive, and belong. PR
