
THE Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) announced temporary road closures on May 9, 2025, to accommodate the Miting de Avance of Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod (HTL).
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, May 7, CTTMO stated: “Alang sa ipasiugda nga Miting de Avance karong May 9, 2025, magsugod sa alas Otto sa bunch hanged mahuman ang aktibidad. Pakisubay sa image ang mga alternating agianan (For the upcoming Miting de Avance on May 9, 2025, road closures will begin at 8 a.m. and will remain in effect until the end of the activity. Please refer to the image provided for alternate routes).”
Affected roads include C.M. Recto Avenue from Palma Gil Street to Magsaysay Avenue, Magsaysay Avenue from C.M. Recto to C. Bangoy Street (formerly Ponciano Street), and C. Bangoy Street from E. Quirino Avenue to Palma Gil Street.
Motorists are advised to avoid these areas and use alternate routes. Vehicles headed toward C.M. Recto Avenue are encouraged to turn right onto Palma Gil Street instead.
From 8 a.m. to 12 midnight, vehicles heading toward the C. Bangoy Rotonda must take a left onto C.M. Recto Avenue and a right onto Palma Gil Street. Those coming from E. Quirino Avenue are advised to turn right onto Daang Maharlika Highway and then right again onto Palma Gil Street.
In addition, two-way traffic will be implemented along C.M. Recto Avenue from the corner of Magsaysay Avenue to Palma Gil Street.
CTTMO's Atty. Eduardo Perez IV said that nearly 150 personnel will be deployed to manage traffic throughout the event.
The temporary closure is authorized under Resolution No. 04256-25 and City Ordinance No. 0807-25, both series of 2025.
HTL also announced via Facebook that their Miting de Avance will begin at 3 p.m. on May 9. The event will feature their full slate of candidates, including those running for senator, councilor, and congressman in the city's first, second, and third districts. RGP
