ORGANIZERS of the recently concluded Reyna ng Davao pageant have responded to online criticisms questioning the fairness of the competition, assuring the public that the event was conducted with integrity and impartiality.
While the social media posts did not name specific individuals, they cast doubt on the legitimacy of the results.
In light of these comments, Executive Producer Harold L. Quibete, in a message forwarded to SunStar Davao, defended the pageant's judging process and calling the allegations "baseless."
“The judges made their decisions independently, and we trust the process that was followed,” Quibete stated.
Quibete emphasized that the Reyna ng Davao organization has always upheld the highest standards in the conduct of its events and remains open to receiving feedback — but through the proper channels.
“If anyone has concerns or feedback about how the program was conducted, we’re open to hearing them — but let’s keep the conversation respectful and constructive,” he added.
Despite the criticisms, the organizers expressed gratitude to the LGBTQIA+ community, the candidates, and their supporters for making the event a celebration of identity, creativity, and pride.
“We remain committed to creating safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community here in Davao,” Quibete said.
The Reyna ng Davao pageant continues to be one of the city’s most anticipated Pride events — as part of the annual Duaw Davao.
