THE Department of Labor and Employment-Davao Region (Dole-Davao) said that the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in Davao (RTWPB-Davao) will undergo deliberations following the public hearing on the wage adjustment.
Lawyer Randolf C. Pensoy, Dole-Davao regional director, said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw on Monday, February 10, 2025, at SM City Davao, that the board will have three deliberations scheduled this week concerning the wage adjustments for private sector workers and domestic workers.
“Dili lang ko mutubag isip usa ka member sa board kay pangit ug muingon ko na naay bay mahitabo na wage adjustment; naa me public hearing, ang kanang public hearing nagasulti kung kinahanglanon ba (I will not answer as a member of the board because it would be inappropriate if I say that there will be a wage adjustment. We have a public hearing, and the public hearing discusses whether it is necessary),” he said.
He added that they would base their decisions on the discussions and deliberations of the board members, which consist of representatives from the employee sector, employer sector, and government side.
Pensoy further explained that the minimum wage for non-agricultural workers in the region is P481, while for agricultural workers, it is P476. He said that during the public hearing, the board would listen to the position papers of different sectors, such as employees, and the responses from employers to determine if there is indeed a need for a wage adjustment.
To recall, a public hearing was conducted by the RTWPB-Davao on wage adjustments for private sector workers and domestic workers on February 4, 2025, at the Grand Regal Hotel in Lanang.
The hearing is part of the board's mandate to periodically review regional minimum wages, in accordance with Republic Act No. 6727, or the "Wage Rationalization Act," and the Omnibus Rules on Minimum Wage Determination.
In a previous move, the office granted a wage increase for domestic workers in the region under Wage Order No. RBXI-DW-03. Starting March 6, 2024, the new monthly minimum wage for domestic workers was increased to P6,000 in chartered cities and first-class municipalities, and P5,000 in other municipalities.
RTWPB-Davao also approved a P38 daily wage increase for minimum wage workers in the region, implemented in two tranches. The first tranche of P19 took effect on March 6, 2024, under Wage Order No. RBXI-22, with the second tranche of P19 taking effect on September 1, 2024. RGP
