JESRAEL Rule and Kim Brian Salvador clinched the Bowler of the Year (BotY) and Rookie of the Year (RotY) awards, respectively, during the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) Christmas party held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Garden Oases Resort and Convention Center.
Rule secured his second BotY trophy, having first won the award in 2022. This year’s milestone comes from his impressive string of victories across various tournaments.
On December 8, he captured the Datba President's Cup 2024 championship. Earlier in September, he won the Sugbu Open (Classified Division) and the 1st MCBA Open in Cagayan de Oro City. In addition to these titles, Rule also achieved runner-up finishes in three other national open tournaments.
"I am very proud kay for the second time nako nakuha ni nga award (I am very proud because, for the second time, I have received this award)," said Rule, who has been a dedicated member of Datba for nine years. He reflected on the sacrifices, including traveling to tournaments outside the city and investing significant time, money, and effort.
Rule also lauded Datba’s remarkable achievements this year, with the organization securing at least eight national titles, surpassing last year’s record of six.
Meanwhile, Salvador made waves as a rookie, winning the NBT Open Datba Araw ng Dabaw Classified Division Championship and earning the March monthly title. He also competed in four monthly championship matches, setting a new record and surpassing Rule’s previous mark of three monthly championship appearances in a single year.
Rule and Salvador will compete in the Tournament of Champions (ToC), scheduled for January 2025. They will face a formidable lineup of monthly champions, including Marc Fernandez (January), Benz Palacio (February), Rod Tongo (April), Gab Velasco (May), Joshua Disuacido (June), Mav Manuel (July), Emz Salvador (August), Paul Palacio (September), Crystal Chavez (October), and Kath Lee (November).
Desperados Champion Art Galendez and qualifiers Edmund Cambaliza and Jovy Uyanguren are also joining them.
