ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL — The city government of Samal has saved as much as P132,095 since it has put into operation the P50 million Samal Renewable Energy Project which also serves as spaces for car park at the City Hall ground.
Samal Island Info indicated that the value of savings was calculated from the time the renewable energy project started operating on May 16 while also substantially augmenting electrical supply .
Inaugurated on February 6, 2025, the renewable energy project is a 500 kilovolt-ampere (KVA) grid type occupying 2,690.21 square meters that also serves as a parking space for more than 190 cars.
Made up of 1,036 solar panel modules with 450 watts each, this project has integrated solar technology and parking structure, maximizing available space for energy generation and vehicle accommodation, “without the need for additional land development,” Samal Island Info said.
The project is cited as a legacy of Samal incumbent Mayor Al David Uy who will be ending his term to take up a seat at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan as a Provincial Board Member.
Mayor Uy appreciated the implementing companies, HG Agri Industrial Machineries and Greenergy Development Corporation, and the 9th City Council, headed by Vice Mayor Lemuel Reyes, in realizing the project which addresses constant power outages long been experienced in the city. PIA DAVAO
