VICE President Sara Duterte said her team is ready to address allegations over the alleged misuse of confidential funds if the case is filed in the proper forum.

“Nagbibigay kami ng saktong sagot at nagbibigay kami ng explanation ng mga accusations (We provide accurate answers and explanations for the accusations),” she told reporters in a media interview at Magsaysay Park, Davao City, on Monday, August 11.

Duterte said that such accusations should not be staged or made at anyone’s whim. She recalled that when the articles of impeachment were filed against her, her defense team was prepared to respond to every charge brought by prosecutors and the House of Representatives (HOR). When the case reached the Supreme Court (SC), they submitted all documents required by the high court.

The HOR impeached Duterte in February, accusing her of graft, corruption, and alleged involvement in an assassination plot against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

On July 25, the SC granted a petition to dismiss the fourth impeachment complaint against her. But on August 4, the House filed a motion asking the Court to reconsider its ruling. Two days later, on August 6, the Senate archived the complaint following the SC decision.

Duterte earlier urged respect for the Senate’s move, admitting she had initially wanted a “bloodbath” — a full presentation of evidence from both sides for the public to see — but accepted this would no longer happen after the case was shelved. RGP
