THE Police Regional Office-Davao Region (PRO-Davao), in coordination with the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office (DNPPO), is set to deploy 345 police personnel to ensure safety and security during the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2025 from March 9 to 15 at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City.
According to DNPPO Public Information Officer Police Major Anjanette Tirador, the number of deployed personnel may still increase as final arrangements for billeting quarters and playing venues are confirmed.
“This number may still go up. We have upcoming meetings to finalize the event's security flow and details,” she said.
The announcement follows the success of the 2024 Davraa Meet in Davao City, which was widely praised for its peaceful and well-organized execution. The event, held from April 1 to 7, was managed by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), whose strict security measures ensured a safe environment for all participants.
A look back
DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon stated in an April 8, 2024 report that security forces were deployed across 44 playing venues and 17 billeting quarters, accommodating delegations from 11 regional divisions. No security incidents were recorded throughout the competition.
"For the 2024 Davraa, our police personnel at the Davao City Police Office, based on our monitoring, reported no recorded incidents before and during the event," Tuazon said.
The Davao City Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) also reinforced security efforts by deploying 14,966 personnel, including DCPO officers, non-uniformed volunteers, and military units from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The Davraa Meet 2024 saw 5,244 delegates, including student-athletes and coaches, gather at the Davao City-University of the Philippines (DC-UP) Sports Complex for the opening ceremony.
