SENATOR Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, chairperson of the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs, lauded the recent passing of a bill he authored and co-sponsored into law.
RA 12177 or the Free Legal Assistance for Military and Uniformed Personnel (MUPs), aims to assist the military and uniformed personnel with any legal assistance they might need while performing their duties and roles.
This is a great help for our MUP if and when they need the following: legal representation, legal advice or consultations; crafting legal forms and documents; court fees or any related fees; and notarization of documents)," a statement posted on his official Facebook page read.
The law also covers retired, honorably discharged or separated MUPs if the case against them stemmed from when they were active in service.
As a former law enforcer, we can hope that Sen. Bato will continue to strive to boost the morale of our soldiers and police personnel. Our senator will not get tired of pushing for measures that will give peace of mind and ease the burden of our fellow Filipinos)," the statement added. CEA
