THE National Commission of Senior Citizens Cluster 8-Davao Region (NCSC-Davao) has announced the start of the distribution of cash incentives for senior citizens aged 80, 85, 90, and 95, in line with Republic Act 11982, also known as the Expanded Centenarian Act.
Maria Victoria Arancon, project development officer for NCSC in the Davao and Caraga Regions, said the first simultaneous pay-out will take place on February 26 at the Davao City Recreation Center (formerly Almendras Gym), in coordination with other agencies.
“Mag-start na po ang implementation [We will start on the implementation] of the RA 11982 and this is the Octogenarian, Nonagenarian, and Centenarian Act (We are now implementing RA 11982, the Octogenarian, Nonagenarian, and Centenarian Act,” Arancon said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw on Monday, February 10, 2025, at SM City Davao.
After the initial pay-out in Davao City, distribution will continue in other provinces, including Davao del Norte, which has 29 beneficiaries, Davao de Oro with 10, and Davao Occidental with another 10.
Arancon noted that the central office has already validated the beneficiaries born in January before releasing the funds. She also encouraged eligible seniors to apply, as applications are still being accepted.
John Ritrex G. Juanich, another project development officer of NCSC, said that Davao City alone has about 78 beneficiaries.
He added that octogenarians and nonagenarians will receive P10,000 each, while centenarians will be granted P100,000 upon reaching 100 years old. He clarified that the incentive is a one-time grant per milestone age and not an annual payout. Instead, they will receive the incentive only once upon reaching the milestone ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95.
To claim the benefit, beneficiaries must present a Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Birth Certificate or PSA ID and visit their nearest Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), which serves as NCSC’s implementation partner.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed RA 11982 on February 26, 2024, granting financial benefits to Filipino octogenarians and nonagenarians. RGP
