THE Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Brgy. Tibal-og has condemned the inappropriate behavior of one of its councilors following backlash over a social media post deemed offensive and misogynistic.
The controversy erupted when the SK official shared a post from DXDC-RMN Davao featuring a photo of International Criminal Court (ICC) Presiding Judge Iulia Motoc, captioned: "Looks like a stepmom from Pornhub."
The remark quickly drew criticism from netizens, who denounced its sexist and inappropriate nature.
Motoc is one of the ICC judges presiding over the case against former President Rodrigo Duterte, who faces charges of crimes against humanity.
Call for accountability
In response, SK Tibal-og underscored its zero-tolerance stance on discrimination, sexism, and misogyny.
"As representatives of the youth, it is our duty to foster a safe and respectful environment, both online and offline," the statement read.
The group pledged to implement stricter guidelines on responsible social media use and reinforce gender sensitivity training to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Unclear sanctions
While SK Tibal-og condemned the councilor’s actions, it remains uncertain what sanctions, if any, will be imposed. The group assured the public that they take the issue seriously and will uphold accountability among their members.
The incident has reignited discussions on the responsibility of public officials—especially youth leaders—to uphold values of respect and equality.
SK Tibal-og concluded by urging the community to work together in promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
The SK official in question has yet to issue a statement. RGL
