THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) clarified that Raymond Itang Dasig, 26, who allegedly killed his father on February 4 in Purok Tisa, Barangay Talandang, Tugbok District, will not undergo a drug test. A parricide case was filed against him with the prosecutor’s office on February 5, 2025.

Police identified the victim as 60-year-old Rolando Makiling Dasig, both of whom were laborers.

Police Major Noe Macolbacol Jr., deputy station commander for the administration of Los Amigos, confirmed in an interview with dxDC RMN Davao that the case was not drug-related, so no drug test would be conducted.

However, the suspect underwent a medical exam for wounds on his body before the case was filed.

Authorities reported that the father and son were returning home from a neighbor’s birthday celebration when they stopped by the home of Richard Dasig, another of the victim’s children.

Neighbor Elizabeth Dasig Bugais heard a loud noise inside Richard’s house, suggesting an argument. When she checked, she saw Raymond emerging covered in blood.

He allegedly said, "Wala na. Akoang gitigbas si Papa kay giunhan man ko niya (It's over. I hacked my father because he attacked me first)."

Witnesses, including the victim’s 14-year-old grandchildren, claimed the suspect injured his shoulders to make it appear his father attacked him. However, investigators later confirmed the wounds were self-inflicted.

The victim was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) but was declared dead on arrival.

SunStar Davao attempted to contact the police on February 7 for updates on the case and whether the suspect would undergo a psychological evaluation but received no response. DEF
