12 flags on a par 3!

TWELVE flags on hole no. 6 of Rancho Palos Verdes Golf during the 11th Davao Eaglemasters Golf Tournament, what a sight to see!

In most major tournaments, there is usually a major hole-in-one prize. So whenever a par 3 is coming up, participants get very excited. Just imagine the excitement seeing 12 flags on a green, all saying, “Come here white baby ball, come to mama!”

The Eaglemasters, Inc. family spread out around 70 flags among the par 3’s of the three golf courses in Davao namely, Rancho Palos Verdes Golf, Apo Golf, and South Pacific Golf. That meant that each participant had around 70 chances at winning a major prize. That is 70 reasons why people from all over the world joined this 54-hole golf competition.

The P10,000 per person tournament fee seemed a bit pricey, but think again. P5,000 of it was a gift certificate which you can use to purchase golf items. Each player was entitled to play 6 games—one practice round and one tournament game in each of the three courses. Unli food and drinks during the welcome party and during the awards night. Sorry. This is how I think. I am frugal! And don’t forget the 70+ hole-in-one flags.

Aside from golfers from around the Philippines, golfers from Florida and New Jersey, U.S.A., Japan and other places came to participate in the 11th Eaglemasters. Melbourne, Australia had the biggest delegation with a total of 30 golfers.

More reasons they joined? FYI, they had so many major and minor prizes raffled off during the awards night which was held at the RMC Petro Gazz Arena last Sunday, Sep. 22, 2019. Among the prizes were split type AC’s, huge flatscreen TV’s, and more, including a motorcycle, if I am not mistaken. And, to everyone’s surprise, the President of Eaglemasters, Inc., Mr. Leo Magno, announced that they will also raffle off a brand new golf car. What a treat for all the 600+ participants who saw action.

The awards night started with tournament chairman Randy Cadiogan apologizing to everyone for the tournament’s shortcomings. It was a four-day event. So many participants came. Minor lapses are bound happen. They are not perfect. No one is. How very gentlemanlike of him for apologizing. Such an admirable trait.

Cadiogan and Magno along with the rest of the Eaglemasters, Inc. family thanked everyone for the support and for their participation. And the rest of the night, well, unli drinks, entertainment, so expect bragging mouths telling everyone else how close they were at winning a hole in one. Hehe.

Next year, will there be a 12th Eaglemasters Golf Tournament? I hope so! Congratulations to the tournament winners, and the raffle winners too!
