ATENEO de Davao University (Addu) Lady Blue Knights thrashed the Philippine Women's College (PWC) Lady Patriots, 81-19, to grab a finals berth in the Dacs Sportsfest 2019 college basketball tournament at the Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) Jacinto gym yesterday.
Ma. Andrea Nicolas erupted with 20 baskets while Ma. Isabel Torrecampo chipped in 18 to lead the rousing victory for the Cyrielle Ramintas-mentored Lady Blue Knights who will collide with eight-peat champion Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) Lady Crusaders for the gold medal today.
Ramintas, in a post-game interview with Sun.Star Davao, downplayed their chances in the finals.
It can be recalled that HCDC eked out an 85-53 win over Addu in the elimination round.
"Kailangang hustle, more on defense. Maging aware sa among ginabuhat (we need to be focus on what we're doing), execute game plan better. We must challenge them with defense, limit turnovers and convert free throws," Ramintas said.
She shared that HCDC's consistent three points hurt them so bad during their last game.
In men's event, John Paul II College of Davao Saints demolished PWC, 81-65, while HCDC breezed past Holy Cross College of Calinan via forfeiture.
