TIBUNGCO-BASED Anthony and Mark Cavanis Elementary School, Inc. (Amcesi) collected three gold medals, four silvers and three bronzes as the Davao Association of Catholic Schools, Inc. (Dacs) 2018 Sportsfest athletics competition opened at the Fr. Martinez Sports Center track oval of the Ateneo de Davao University in Matina.
Host Ateneo annexed three golds, two silvers and two bronzes to place second as of yesterday presstime while Our Lady Fatima Academy (Olfa) copped three golds and three bronzes.
Holy Cross College of Calinan, for its part, came fourth.
Mark Palma Gil, Chiara Medida and Milo Angelo Tinaco clinched the golds for Amcesi.
Gil registered 6.01 meters in elementary boys shot put, beating teammate Tinaco (4.17m) and Olfa's Paul Andrew Reynes (3.94m) who got the silver and bronze, respectively.
Tinaco, meanwhile, raced past teammates Juvel Inocellas and Palma Gil for the elementary boys 1,500m gold. Tinaco clocked six minutes and 20.66 seconds over Inocellas' 6:21.55 and Palma Gil's 6:41.83.
Medida was unopposed in elementary girls shot put.
Ateneo's golds were courtesy of Nicole Suello (girls 13-16 100m dash), Alexis Randy Cañedo (secondary boys shot put) and Lesly Camilet (secondary girls shot put).
Suello timed 14.79 seconds followed by Ana Juliana Curayag of HCCC (15.40) and Ateneo's Syl Gabrielle Sagulili of Ateneo (15.64).
Cañedo (8.28) bested teammate Fritz Mangudadatu (5.95) and Nathaniel Ombana (5.92) of Olfa while Camilet (6.21) outlasted HCCC's Joy Baltazar (6.16) and Alleya Baiño of Ateneo (5.97).
Jullian May Visaya (elementary girls 1,500m), Homer Cosare (elementary boys 100m) and Ira Operario (secondary girls 100m) won golds for Olfa.
