A BIGGER "Battle of the Strongest", a national crossfit competition initiated by Crossfit Madayaw in partnership with Visit Davao Summer Festival, will get underway on May 26 at the Matina Town Square (MTS) activity area.

Crossfit Madayaw president Earvin Joshua Go bared this in a Facebook chat with Sun.Star Davao Tuesday, May 8.

Go said the second edition will have 129 participants while only 72 entries joined last year.

"There will be delegates from Korea, China, Thailand and Malaysia," he said.

He also said that last year's RX category champions Job Wi and Joyce Reboton of Luzon will return to defend their titles.

Last year's scale champions Bern Llanes and Isabell Wolfe, however, won’t defend their crowns but will give Wi and Reboton a tough challenge in the RX category instead.

Go added that they will also introduce the master's category for 36 years old and above athletes.

"Main objective is to promote Davao tourism by hosting a CrossFit competition. Battle of the Strongest aims to look for the fittest athlete by having the athletes do a series of workouts which involves elements of weightlifting, gymnastics and endurance workouts," he said.

Over P300,000 cash prizes are at stake.

The male and female RX champions will receive P50,000 each while the master's category king and queen will take home P25,000 apiece. The scaled winners will each pocket P20,000 apiece.
